This Passing Glance

Love knows the past

in memories clear

the greater the distance

the more love draws near

Through time with hope

a will to share

in the joy of its presence

and the gifts it will bear

Peer into my soul

in this passing glance

here life will be music

and love be its dance

Rise Above

I am from the grace of love

the gift of life I hold

I bring the truth between the words

in each the stories told

I am light that carries hope

to shadow fear away

I glisten wonder from the stars

or sunshine on this day

I am bold and powerful

still fragile gifts I bear

with numbers yet to count the ways

our love was made to share

I am you and we are one

in each as born from love

these wings will hold the gift until

we're free to rise above

Spoken

And so this day has come at last

from those ahead and those since past

be in the light or shadows cast

today has come at last

If time is spent and never saved

its poverty we are enslaved

so deeply it becomes engraved

in time we never saved

So use this time you've found today

as there will be no other way

search the words you'd love to say

and hearts may speak today

The Beacon

Let us decide what's fit to print

and here now spills the ink

may we never disregard

what's felt for what we think

For life is long and minds will change

not all things fossil stone

emotion shares its energy

while egos sit alone

And so the words we come to share

may travel through the heart

to beacon light of love across

where fear drew us apart

An honor to give

these words to you

each from the heart

with hope they're blessed true

The language of souls

is spoken with care

for kindness is gifted

in each word we share

What brings us together

may lift us above

sharing these words

These but only words

in simple ink they spill

sent to reach the heart

with love it may instill

Cast away the reasons

the mind will gather near

care is in the name of love

and hate is named in fear

Take from me this hope

and use it long to live

keep between the simple words

the love your heart may give

The Beautiful Truth

From such subtle energy

in search of synchronicity

What's held by calm simplicity

be gifted true with honesty

From either side of reality

the beautiful truth is plain to see

From chaos comes a harmony

an honest heart, a mind set free

One Fine Day

The poverty of hatred

starving the self

while love and compassion

are the only true wealth

Cast away kindness

the tongues bitter tone

tattered and broken

they sat there alone

The painted graffiti

on all the bricks laid

will show in the light

the price you have paid

What's shattered in pieces

is soon thrown away

until love is the treasure

you'll need one fine day

To dancers and singers

the world is a stage

To writers and poets

it's this empty page

In motion and lyric

so perfectly timed

In thought and in words

ingeniously rhymed

To see and to hear

to amaze as they do

To read and to feel

these words I give you

With each one arranged

with hope and with care

Tears of Joy

Cry me a river

from tears of joy

bring kindness and laughter

this heart may enjoy

May sorrows be flooded

and washed out to sea

by tears of joy

you cry for me

What teardrops of sadness

and sorrow destroy

is brought back to life

in tears of joy

The Gravity of Love

Held with grace in this gravity of love

bound with all that dreams are made of

Carried through time and life just the same

with absolute splendor and joy in its name

Bring us from sorrow in the simplest light

with care and with kindness it holds us tight

Fall as we do in this gravity of love

caught in the arms of the angels above

Remembrance

Marking time with memories

immersed in the splendor of light

joy has the palette of color unbound

while sorrow has black and white

Moments fill the days gone by

as the years all line in a row

silhouettes motion in jagged gaps

while color moves soft and slow

Love is the richness in memory

that fills in the shadows of pain

If fear should bring the darkening sky

then hope should bring the rain

Frame by frame the image starts

the essence of time completes

the distance of life may be counted by years

and remembered by how the heart beats

Yours to Live

With hope these words will find you well

of love and life they've come to tell

a story told without such fears

will bring an end onto the tears

Those pieces lying on the ground

fell but never made a sound

Pick one up and so you start

help to mend this broken heart

Passing time that lends to heal

I'll tell you of the scars I feel

And love like rain will fall someday

and wash each of the scars away

Gathered pieces rearrange

have this life make subtle change

Gifting time in words we give

brings love to life that's yours to live

Once More

All that we pretend to be

masks adorned for all to see

Thick and thin and one by one

shown to each and everyone

All these layers take their toll

bearing on the heart and soul

Shaded dim by fear and doubt

blurs the insight looking out

By warmth of light in which we see

through cold and dark complexity

All thats true within the core

will shed the layers clean once more

Tears of Yesterday

Today holds promise

in tomorrows eyes

As yesterday leaves

only subtle goodbyes

The moments pass

without a care

Some bring joy

and some despair

The future draws

the past away

In this moment

we will stay

Today has promise

hope is kept

Tomorrow may sing

as yesterday wept

The Message

At first we're just strangers

or those walking by

Until souls send a message

from hearts that won't lie

From the simplest energy

the attraction of light

And what may cast shadows

is clean out of sight

We gaze in the eyes

as this energy expands

The mind need not think

what the heart understands

While soon these connections

spread both far and wide

And the best traveled path

keeps friends by our side

Shattered

In all I try and take to keep

the self I only serve

The curve is short and very steep

I get what I deserve

In all I wish and look to see

gaze both far and wide

Beneath my feet obscurity

holding back my stride

In all the time I never find

these moments slip away

Tomorrow kindly steps behind

the shadow of today

In all these pieces on the ground

might fit so perfectly

Hope is first what need be found

for all that shatters me

Another day passes

before your eyes

Precious moments all lined in a row

Tomorrow is pulling

with yesterdays push

Makes today the star of the show

Ideas look forward

while memories back

Riding right now like a wave

If it's well spent

or wasted away

It's time we will never save

Frantic or lazy

are all in due time

And less about simple math

Counting and measuring

you cannot enjoy

This life, this journey, this path

Heartbeats keep rhythm

and emotions make rhyme

As the song of the soul plays sweet

Take just a minute

Or give some away

To those on the path that you meet

Lost Between Love and Fear

As there is light there is darkness

And as there is love there is fear

So far apart one might push us

While the other draws us so near

A glimpse in these passing moments

But jewels held in fond memory

And all that may lurk within shadows

Cast far as the eye can see

With words we make the connections

With feelings we need not say

And once we share the faintest spark

We share the light of day

As soon as we step from the darkness

Our focus becomes perfectly clear

Knowing that those in the shadows

So precious these tiny little moments will be

To glisten like treasure in warm memory

Kept to be shared but never let go

As words from the heart begin to flow

Clouds of emotion will give way to rain

To drench the soul and wash away pain

Life is a journey, the path is not straight
